Reports reaching Ghanapage.com indicates that the Ghana U-23 team known us The Black Meteors escaped a plane crash on their way to Gabon.

The team were on their way to Gabon for the 2nd leg of the U-23 AFCON qualifier where the Asky Airline on which the team was travelling on could not land due to bad weather.

According to reports, they had to spend almost two hours in the sky due to bad weather before successfully landing is Libreville.

The pilot had to make a forced landing at Doula, Cameroon before they landed in Gabon after they were finally given clearance.

The head coach, Ibrahim Tanko stated that the incident was scary but every member of the team and the technical staff is safe.

“We arrived in Gabon safely but very scary. We were in the sky for almost two hours but couldn’t land because of bad weather and had to go to Douala, Cameroon instead of Libreville, Gabon and wait for more than one hour, before trying again. Thank God for travelling mercy. We are now in our hotel”, Ibrahim Tanko revealed.

On Tuesday, March 26th Ghana will play Gabon in the second leg to determine who will qualify for the 2019 U23 AFCON.

Ghana beat Gabon 4-0 on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium in their CAF U23 cup of Nations penultimate qualifying round.
