Esteemed reggae voice and Grammy honouree, Rocky Dawuni hosted a cozy gig at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill in Accra.
The concert, held in honour of Dawuni’s latest LP, Beats of Zion, also witnessed supporting sets by Wiyaala, rapper Cabum, and Samini (with whom he performed a captivating iteration of “In Ghana”). That last set, which saw Rocky and Samini trade stories about inspiration, growth, and the full circle, constituted a key highlight on the night.
Since the album’s release, “Beats of Zion” has frequently become headline fodder, courting critical acclaim for the direction Dawuni explores on the project; which sees him harvest snapshots of Ghana’s musical journey over generations.
Dawuni’s 7th album, “Beats of Zion” serves 13 joints, with features from Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Wiyaala, and Argentinian Dancehall practitioner, Alika.
